Ethan hurried from the cafeteria, his class schedule held in one hand and his knapsack--stuffed with all the supplies he might need for the day--being held by the other. He was already up and dressed immaculately in the school uniform when the Headmistress' message sounded, so he had been one of the first people in the cafeteria for breakfast. The teen had scarfed down his food in record time, and was now hurrying off to homeroom. He didn't want to be late to his first class on his first day. Especially since he had the supreme . . . 'luck' . . . of having his homeroom taught by the uuber scary vampire herself, Ms. Talon. Who knew what she'd do to a person for being late.
Ethan had no desire to end up a glorified doggie-treat.
He made his way out to the battle arena and then loped inside. The space seemed empty for the moment, not even Ms. Talon had arrived yet. The redhead slumped with relief at that for a moment before loping over to the benches in order to set down his knapsack. He adjusted his glasses afterward, debating on whether he should sit down or stand, when his extremely sharp ears and nose detected a newcomer to the room.
At the scent, the wolf in him immediately perked up and growled . . . in a not entirely angry kind of way.
Ethan whirled, blinking in surprise as Kate Meyers sauntered her way up to him, grin on her face. She too was wearing the school uniform, though somehow she managed to make the outfit seem casual and trendy rather than staid and simple. He gulped, eyes wide, suddenly realizing that they were completely alone in the room. He plopped down on the bench and looked away determinedly, inwardly cursing as he felt his face start to turn ruddy with embarrassed nervousness.
Oblivious it seemed, the gorgeous cougar-were came and sat beside him with a sigh. "Heya Wolfy," she greeted pleasantly. "Can't say I'm surprised to see you here, already."
Ethan grit his teeth slightly, staring at the floor between his sneakers. "I hae a name," he pointed out for the upteenth time.
"Yah, I know," she assured once again, and he could hear the grin in her tone. "Wolfy."
He finally turned toward her, dark eyes narrowed and his firmly combed hair starting to bristle and curl. "And what if I started callin' ye Kitty-Kat all the time, eh?" he demanded scathingly. Instead of set her back, Kate just smirked at him playfully, dark eyes dancing. She lifted one slender shoulder in a sinuous shrug.
"I dunno, Wolfy," she purred, staring up at him through her lashes. "Could be fun."
Stunned, he just blinked at her, at a loss. Girls didn't act this way toward him. Something was very, very wrong . . . he just couldn't figure out what.
'Luckily,' only a moment later other students began trickling in. Kate finally took mercy on him, getting up to go greet another female student and was soon lost in conversation. Meanwhile Ethan remained on the benches, pointedly staring at everything but her.

"Oh my gosh I am so excited!" Mattie exclaimed as she and Rose made their way toward their homeroom class. Her pale-featured roommate just smiled at the darker girl's continued enthusiasm. "I can't wait to see what kind of things Ms. Talon has us do for homeroom." She glanced at Rose, suddenly making a face. "Hopefully it's not regular old boring homeroom stuff. I mean, this is a Magic Academy, right? That means there has to be something new and exciting. Maybe we'll learn a spell or something! That would be so fun."
And maybe--just maybe--she would share this class and a number of others with that mysterious, extremely hot boy she'd glimpsed in the cafeteria last night. It was Lucky Day, after all. Though her cheeks turned pink at the prospect, her blue eyes danced with hope.

"Wow, we lucked out having homeroom taught by your mom, yes?" Ana questioned of Gabby as the two girls made their way from the cafeteria out to the battle arena where Talon taught her classes. The dark-featured vampire at her side gave a small, wry smile.
"I suppose that would depend on one's point of view," was her reply. At Ana's questioning look, she shrugged. "Though she is my mother, I do not anticipate . . . expect that she will treat me any differently than other students. As it should be," Gabby finished with a nod. Ana nodded as well.
"I hope I do okay," she mumbled under her breath, absently clutching at her bag. Of course Gabrielle heard her, given their superior hearing. Her friend reached out and took her hand, giving it a comforting squeeze. When Ana glanced her way, a soft smile was on her face.
"We will do okay," she assured. "Together."
A small, answering smile pulled at her own face and she squeezed back. "Together," she agreed.

Michael did not enjoy being forced to enter homeroom.
He did nonetheless, however, because it was his duty to make sure that Lilith's vile nephil progeny did not, in fact, take after the evil side of her family. Which was both sides. Mostly. At first, anyway.
As luck would have it, he arrived at the class at the exact same time that feral vampire did.
"Michael. What a pleasant surprise." Talon said with a wide, toothy grin.
"Quiet you blood-sucking abomination." The angel in human form growled.
"That's no way to talk to your teacher." The vampire continued. "You might get detention."
"I'm warning you, creature." Michael snarled under his breath.
"You don't warn me here, wingly boy. I warn you. And if you wanna be taken seriously as a student and not as a celestial watchdog, then you're gonna have to act like I cow you." Talon continued.
Michael had a defeated, and rather enraged look on his face, but he sighed and calmed himself. "Very well...Ms. Talon." He looked out into the class, and noticed more than one girl looking his way and blushing. "What are they all staring at?"
"They must like girly boys. Anyway, you'd better work at your disguise, Mikey. This is homeroom. Go do...homeroomy things." She made some shooing motions with her talons.
"And what does one do during..'homeroom'?" The angel asked, trying hard to restrain his rage at the infantalization of his name.
Talon sighed. "You know, I really have no idea."
Michael laughed. "I should have guessed you would have no idea how to be a teacher, feral beast."
The vampire turned to him and pointed to one end of the arena. "Go stand in the corner."
The angel stopped laughing. "What."
"You heard me. Go stand in the corner until I tell you to come out of it."
"I am not a child you...!"
Talon raised an eyebrow. Michael stopped mid-yell, realizing even more people were staring at him than before. The angel lowered his head, defeated, and walked over to the corner.
"Oh, I could get used to this teacher thing." Talon looked to the students and sighed. "Hey, you kids. Just...carry on what you've been doing until it's time for your next class."
*******
Kate wandered up behind Mattie and nudged her in the side. "Well, someone like boys rockin' the rockstar look." She said with a smirk.

Mattie blushed a darker shade of red. She thought about denying it, but lying was never her forte.
"He's so . . . just . . . so!" she gushed softly in a faint squeal, wide eyes trained on his stiff back as he stood now in the corner. Obviously displeased with that turn of events. "I dunno what it is, exactly," she revealed. "Just something about him . . . ."
Kate just smirked, and Mattie thought she might have seen a flicker of understanding in her dark gaze. "Yeah," the other girl murmured softly as she turned to sit down. "I know what you mean."

Grove was up and out of bed the moment the sky outside the window began to lighten. He hadn't slept much the night before, not that he did anyway these days.
He took advantage of being one of the first people up, and grabbed the first shower. He was dressed, and out of the room before the Sun had even finished climbing above the horizon.
A quick dash into the cafeteria netted him a couple pieces of fruit, which he ate quickly and quietly away the few other students already up. He spied Ethan coming in just as he finished, and made a hasty exit, before he could be spotted.
From there, he found himself a quiet spot to sit an stare at the rising sun. His moment of peace didn't last long, as he noticed a sudden flurry of activity from the dorms as students began rushing for the cafeteria en mass.
He made his way through the crowd, somehow managing to not actually have to touch or force anyone to get out of his way. He made his way inside the Arena, and quickly took a seat on a bench a moment before Talon showed up.
It wasn't until the 'itch' on his back started acting up, that he realized he'd somehow sat down next to Rose, when he could have sworn he'd picked an empty bench.
There was something very strange going on here...

Prince awoke shortly after Grove slammed the door to their room on his way out. Honestly, that boy really needed to lighten up. The way he stomped around, and acted all emo about things, you'd think some monster had eaten his family or something.
With a disgusted sigh, Prince set about getting ready for the day, pleasantly surprised to find his hair was a lovely shade of cinnamon this morning, and he somehow had no tangles that needed to be brushed out.
Of course, one the Will-o-wisps related Briar's message, it all made sense.
"Today, is going to be a great day!"
He quickly finished dressing, and snaked his way into the cafeteria to snag a quick breakfast. While he'd love to stay longer and socialize, he figured it would be better to get to Homeroom early, and try to see if he could talk some sense into Grove.
Maybe all the poor chap needed was to make a few friends.
He arrived in class just behind Ms. Talon, and just in time to see Grove sitting alone with Rose. Ah, that must be what he'd been up to so early this morning. What with the good luck and all. Perhaps he should help his roommate. It never hurt to have a wingman after all.

"So that thing actually works?" Juraj spoke to his sister as they walked into the homeroom arena. He was glad to see that his sister was more at ease now. Of course he still was on edge, so many 'weird' people around and all.
Jalora had nodded in response to her brother as they had chatted on their way to class. She wasn't a very talkative person to begin with but she could always talk to him. But once they were in the 'classroom' they both quieted down. She went quiet for shy reasons...her brother on the other hand was quiet for other reasons. She elbowed him slightly for his glaring. Juraj wasn't glaring at anyone inparticular...it was all posturing and if he didn't stop it she knew it wasn't going to end well. "You really should talk to her..." She pointed out quietly as they moved to find a place to sit.
"Hmph...can't be all that bad.."
